Meet the team: Hollie
1. What is your role at ClarityDX?
I’m a Digital Project Manager sitting in the project management team and working with clients who need ongoing support and/or maintenance with their WordPress website/s. The role I’m doing is a brand new one at ClarityDX, focused exclusively on our retained clients.
2. What does an average day for you look like?
I’m still very new to ClarityDX, so I’ve been spending a lot of time getting to know everyone in the company and familiarising myself with clients and ways of working. Going forward I’ll be monitoring what requests have come in from clients and working closely with the client and ClarityDX team members to estimate the time involved in undertaking the requests and scheduling them in and generally ensuring everything is running smoothly on the support side.
Alongside of this, I’ll be seeing where things can be improved in terms of processes and (a bit down the track) I’ll be helping out with testing and QA on website builds.
3. What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Nothing so far… But it’s very early days! I think once my feet are ‘firmly under the desk’ it will be managing client expectations and just ensuring everyone is on the same page in terms of what’s being delivered and by when.
4. Any advice for those who want to do what you do?
I think good communication is really important in this line of work, feeling comfortable talking to a range of people including your team mates, clients and third parties. Being able to politely, but assertively push back if something is unrealistic and looking for solutions to problems which may arise.
5. What future design and/or technology developments in the industry are you excited about?
Hmm, I had to think about this question – technology is moving so fast now days and there are so many areas of our lives that (generally) are being improved by technology. I’d say one I’m most curious to see how it ‘pans out’ once it properly gets unleashed on the general public is driverless cars. I know in our household – this could potentially resolve some arguments about who is going to be the ‘designated driver’ when we go out to dinner or parties…
6. What are your passions/hobbies/interests?
My two greyhounds are definitely a big part of my life, I enjoy getting out for walks with them. Although greyhounds are notoriously lazy, they do seem to enjoy their daily walks… I’m also a big lover of dance, I got in to Lindy Hop/Swing dancing about 10 years ago and have been known to get dressed up in 1940’s gear when going to social dances. More recently I’ve started exploring Salsa dancing and I love latin culture, particularly the food!
7. What’s your favourite thing to read in print/online?
Over the past few years I’ve gotten more in to Stoic philosophy. I’ve signed up to an email called the ‘Daily Stoic’ which I find gives some really useful advice on life based on Stoic teachings.
8. What music is currently trending on your playlist?
Music is always on in my house. My usual morning routine is to turn on BBC Radio 6 first thing (in my humble opinion, the best radio station!). I love Cerys Matthews and Giles Peterson on a Saturday on Radio 6. My taste in music is quite eclectic, I love lots of different genres: jazz (big band/swing), latin, folk, hip hop, world music. On my playlist at the moment is Little Simz, Anderson Paak, Roberto Fonseca and Caribou.
9. Tell us a random fact about you…
A few years back I met Buzz Aldrin at a small event and heard all about his mission to the moon. Ironically, his mum’s name was ‘Marion Moon’… 🌒
