Meet the Team: Jeremy
It’s the turn of our latest ‘newbie’ to face a daunting ‘actual conversation’. Meet Jeremy.
1. What is your role at ClarityDX?
I am the Marketing Manager.
2. What does an average day for you look like?
There is no average day, which is amazing. From one day to the next I could be planning a major piece of video/editorial content for a new business campaign we wish to run, meeting up with industry and other agency partners, helping our founder with proposals, planning and organising agency hosted & sponsored events, and in keeping with one of the buzzwords of 2018, making sure all of our activity remains GDPR- compliant!
3. What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Unlike most other roles in a digital agency, mine is not project-based, so whilst there’s probably not as much stress, the job is essentially never finished. The challenging part of that, is the continuous need to set new goals, new targets, realise them, improve them, and start again!
4. Any advice for those who want to do what you do?
Honestly, just go out and get your hands dirty! Start doing marketing tasks based on what you love doing, be it on the creative or the performance side. I once created a (semi) fictionalised weekly story based on the exploits of my six a side football team at the time. There may have been a few too many character embellishments and references to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, however It showed to my first boss that I could write, post on social media, and grow a following organically, so it led to paid work.
5.What future design and/or technology developments in the industry are you excited about?
I’m excited about GDPR, no seriously! It will force agencies to use the kind of innovation in their thinking that is usually reserved for clients. The accelerated adoption of personalised web-forms, meaning that holy grail of customer experience IS possible.
6. What are your passions/hobbies/interests?
I live in the countryside, so you can find me running through fields of wheat and going on nature-based excursions. Sport-wise, I’m big into my football and my UFC, and if you hear loud, yet rhythmic banging in East Hertfordshire, chances are it’s me playing drums!
7. What’s your favourite thing to read in print / online?
I’m a millennial, I have no loyalty! Depending on the subject material, The Drum, FT, Wired, Guardian all feature within my consumption habits.
8. Tell us a random fact about you…
Amy Winehouse once poured me a pint in Camden. I spent the next 2 weeks wishing I’d said something cooler to her…
