Meet the team: Vic
1. What is your role at ClarityDX?
WordPress Developer.
2. What does an average day for you look like?
Get in, coffee, check Slack and emails, check scheduling and start working on whatever tasks or projects I’m assigned on. Currently that involves a lot of backend PHP work creating core logic that powers the websites we work on. The day can vary depending on project needs so occasionally I’m working on bugs, doing tech reviews, etc. Lots of coffee throughout the day.
3. What’s the most challenging part of your job?
I’m often working on several projects at a time so juggling those can get tricky. It’s all too easy to get immersed in a particular bit of code and lose track of time.
4. Any advice for those who want to do what you do?
If you have an interest in tech or problem solving give it a go. Learn and keep practicing. There’s tonnes of resources and help out there and this industry is only going to grow. stackoverflow.com is your friend.
5. What future design and/or technology developments in the industry are you excited about?
The idea of a Headless CMS has been intriguing me lately. With a Headless CMS you can separate the front and backend which potentially means greater control and scalability of your project.
The backend is solely responsible for storing and managing content, organising data and serving it via WordPress’ built-in REST API. That data is served in JSON format which can be understood by a large number of applications – this opens up more possibilities to create highly creative and dynamic websites and apps with the likes of Angular, React, and Vue libraries to name a few.
6. What are your passions/hobbies/interests?
Gigs and gaming. I love a good rock/metal gig or a festival as well as an immersive story game.
7. What’s your favourite thing to read in print/online?
Reddit has a corner for almost everything from light laughs to in depth tech discussions. Codrops is also a great resource for creative webby stuff.
8. Tell us a random fact about you…
I was born in the USSR 2 years before it’s collapse 👍
