ClarityDX launch State of FinTech Marketing
On Monday 4th June, ClarityDX were delighted to welcome members of the UK FinTech & financial services community for the inaugural State of FinTech Marketing in the UK, hosted at FinTech accelerator Level39.
ClarityDX have over the last few years designed and built a number of projects within the B2B technology sector, including for a growing number of FinTech clients. In order to better understand the sector, the challenges our clients face and the trends they have been noticing, we decided to commission a report, asking industry CMO’s a variety of questions on their marketing performance, and well – the overall state of their marketing,
Having commissioned the largest piece of research to date on FinTech Marketing in the UK, it felt appropriate to have some of the most influential Fintech marketeers on stage, discussing the trends and challenges that financial technology companies such as themselves have faced and are facing still. On stage, we had Emma Tully, head of marketing at LendInvest, specialists in short-term finance, Tristan Thomas, Head of Marketing & Community at Monzo, Oren Greenberg of marketing consultancy Kurve and lastly but not least, we had Caroline Plumb OBE, founder of Fluidly
The panel discussion chaired by our own MD Alex Price covered an array of topics, including the age-old debate of Brand Vs Data and the need to be flexible when adhering to a marketing strategy.
When creating a mktg strategy in fintech the process is more important than sticking to plan. Need to be flexible and fail fast. @EmmaTully #stateoffintech @LendInvest

The ago-old question of brand v data. Who wins in marketing? IMO it’s brand. Brand is content. And it needs to be interesting or all is lost. #stateoffintech

The State of Fintech Marketing Report
Indeed, one of the more initially surprising results from our ‘State of Marketing in UK FinTech’ report, was that over 55% of respondents need not have a comprehensive, defined and documented marketing strategy in place. All of our guests agreed to some extent, that the need to be flexible is more important than sticking to the plan. People were able to join in the conversation on the night via Twitter and the comments were indicative of the focus on the challenges of building up an industry sector that is only reaching adolescence, in terms of its maturity.
Physical copies of the report were available on the evening and will be available for download soon. If you are desperate to get a copy before then, do email our marketing manager at [email protected] and we’ll send you one before then.
Storytelling is incredibly important when the goal is category creation. @cplumb @Fluidly #stateoffintech

I’m probably going to miss Love Island for tonight’s #stateoffintech event, so it better be good.
